When my daughter was seeking good quality child care for her little one she asked me to go with her to visit some services and give her my opinion. As an early childhood educator myself - and a parent and grandparent - I know what questions to ask and I know what I'm looking at when I come into a service.

 

We visited four separate services. Most were large with way too many children in attendance (though still within legal ratios). Some had no outdoor area for under two's to explore and enjoy the fresh air. A couple were sparkling new with the latest in equipment, but no heart. It seemed a shame that we couldn't find what we were looking for. Smaller numbers, an outdoor area, nothing flashy - just genuine "old school" early childhood education and care, meals prepared onsite, and staff that we could speak to who actually work with the children.

 

Then I decided to look just one suburb outside our scope and found Oak Tree. We saw Elaine (the centre director that day) and enrolled my grandson straight away. It was everything that we were looking for. He's been there now for 4 months and we're still very impressed and he loves it there. The staff really know my grandson and genuinely care about him. We're excited for him to join the "big kids" room and continue his early childhood journey at Oak Tree Early Learning Centre. He's come such a long way and we know that his progress has been due to the wonderful care he receives there.

My Kids (Haiden & Ash) have attended Oak tree Learning Centre (Formally Known as Active Kids) in Sylvania Heights since they were both about 5months old, Haiden has now been there for 4 years and Ash nearly 2 years. As a working Mum it gave me great peace of mind knowing that they were being cared for by a very loving and interactive team. I feel that by attending the centre that both kids have developed excellent social skills and have met all there Cognitive Milestones. The centre provides healthy nutritious food including breakfast and they also hold nights for the parents and children to interact and also discuss how your child is doing. We are provided a daily update with photos which is emailed and this allows me to feel involved and a part of there every day activities. We highly recommend Oak tree to any other parents.

My wife and I have had 2 boys in attendance for the past 3 years and they love it there. We have watched as they have become more outgoing and made good friends, as have we with the parents and staff. The staff are always willing to listen to suggestions and we cannot thank them enough. We recommend the centre to all of our friends in The Shire.

All three of my kids have been cared for at Oak Tree since 2010 till now. I highly recommend the centre. It has a wonderful family environment that the kids thrive on. The staff are fantastic, with a very low turn over rate. The staff are very engaging with the children, and its great to see all the photos of what the kids have been up to each day.

My son started at Oak Tree just after he turned 1. he goes there 4 days a week and his language and social skills have really blossomed. He has formed some really strong friendships and he is so happy there he rarely wants to go home when its time to pick him up! The staff are amazing and you can tell they care so much for the children and really are experts in their field. The centre has a great community vibe and not only are we kept up to date daily on our son's development there are also many opportunities to get together with other families. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

I love that fact that there is vurtially no staff turn over at this centre. My children are happy and well looked after. They come home and tell us about all the great things they have done and learnt through out the day. I would definitely recommend the centre.
