Fuel for Morning to Evening:
Our Healthy Childcare Menu

At Oak Tree, we understand that daily activities require proper nutrition to support your child’s growth. As a result, we pride ourselves on a menu that focuses on providing healthy meals for children.

Our centre is rooted in nurturing your child's growth over time. Providing the right nutrition to enrich their mind, body and overall wellness.

Here’s how we ensure your child receives balanced and healthy meals:

  • In-House Chef: Our chef prepares all meals and beverages to meet your child’s dietary needs.
  • Age-Appropriate Nutrition: We follow the Australian Dietary Guidelines to adjust meal plans as your child’s dietary needs evolve.
  • Balanced Meal Plans: Each monthly meal plan includes the five essential food groups to ensure proper nutrition.
  • Hydration: We provide beverages like water and milk to keep your child hydrated throughout the day.
  • Healthy Choices: We limit the consumption of unhealthy foods, avoiding high-sugar drinks and limiting foods like cakes and pastries.
  • Munch and Move Program: As part of the NSW Government’s Munch and Move initiative, we ensure our meals meet healthy eating guidelines. Every seasonal menu is Munch and Move approved before being released, and we email it to parents for feedback.

Rest assured, your child’s nutrition is always a top priority at Oak Tree.

How We Meet the Childhood Dietary Requirements

At Oak Tree Learning Centre, we understand that children's dietary needs change as they grow. Our experienced educators are here every step of the way, supporting your child’s cognitive, physical and social-emotional abilities.

See our approach to different ages:

  • Work closely with parents to coordinate the baby’s diet.
  • Initially, feed breast milk or formula.
  • At 6 months, introduce pureed seasonal vegetables (with parental permission).
  • At 12 months, transition to more nutrient-dense whole foods.

  • Focus on the five essential food groups to aid growth and brain development.
  • Provide structured meal routines with recommended food amounts.
  • Include one serving of fruit daily.

  • As children become more active, increase servings of the five food groups.
  • Emphasise higher protein intake to support growth and energy needs.
  • Cater to physical activities, like sports, by providing balanced nutrition.

Our Menu Meeting Diet Guidelines Across the Ages, with Five Food Groups

Within our child care centre, our practices are rooted in an evidence-based approach. It's why the food at our child care centre exceeds the recommended daily intake (RDI) for children aged 2-5. From morning tea, all the way to late afternoon tea, we ensure that the child's dietary needs are met.
See how below:

*Please note that the above is an average % of the RDI from our Summer and Winter menus of 2025. The actual nutritional values may vary based on portion size and individual dietary requirements. For more information on this, contact us.
